Tips for Finding Your Lost Pet

Finding a lost pet without identification in Harris County can be a difficult, time-consuming process.  Here are some tips to help you with your search.

Local Shelters

Check with area shelters (public and non-profit) at least every other day.

REMEMBER: An ID Tag is your pet’s ticket home.

ALWAYS keep identification on your pet.

Check our listings of lost pets to see if he may be in our shelter.

Consider placing a lost pet ad in your local newspaper.

Post signs in your neighborhood with pictures of your pet.  Don’t forget to remove the signs when your pet is found.

Call the veterinarians in your area to alert them to your lost pet in case someone brings it into their clinic.

Check with neighbors, especially children, and ask if they’ve seen a pet that looks like yours.

Search your neighborhood.  Your pet may be close to you, but injured and unable to get back home.

Leave a towel or article of clothing with your scent on it outside your home. Your pet may be disoriented and will be attracted by your scent.
