HCPHES Announces New WIC Site

 

Harris County Public Health & Environmental Services (HCPHES) announces the opening of a new WIC Program site, the Fallbrook WIC Center, located at 14901 State Highway 249, Suite 107, Houston, TX 77086.  The Fallbrook WIC Center began operations on September 28th, 2009.

 

“Because of the tremendous demand for the WIC Program in the Fallbrook area, we elected to open this site. Our clients will be served in a new, spacious facility with a large parking area. The site will also be more convenient for many of our clients who live on the north side of Harris County” stated Christie Kennedy, HCPHES WIC Director.        

 

The hours of operation for the site are as follows:

 

                          Monday and Wednesday      8:00 AM-7:00 PM

                          Tuesday                                  8:00 AM-5:00 PM

                          Thursday and Friday             8:00 AM-2:00 PM

                          3rd Saturday                           8:00 AM-5:00 PM

                          Wednesday after 3rd Sat.     8:00 AM-5:00 PM

                          Closed Friday after 3rd Saturday

Women, Infants & Children (WIC) is a nutrition program sponsored by the Texas Department of State Health Services which helps pregnant women, new mothers, and young children eat well, learn about nutrition, and stay healthy. WIC provides nutrition education and counseling, nutritious foods, and access to health care for low-income women, infants, and children through its Special Supplemental Nutrition Program. Eligible breastfeeding mothers can receive breast pumps, breastfeeding supplies and peer-to-peer counseling through the WIC Program.
