Disease Control & Medical Epidemiology (DCME)

The Disease Control and Medical Epidemiology (DCME) section at Harris County Public Health & Environmental Services (HCPHES) is responsible for tracking and controlling disease and injury in the jurisdiction of HCPHES. DCME staff members receive and investigate reports of diseases and injuries, provide medical care to patients with tuberculosis, help refugees from war-torn countries start healthy lives here, educate people on how to reduce their risk of getting infected with HIV and other sexually-transmitted diseases, and perform many other tasks to help the residents of Harris County remain healthy.
